Post-session care

Proper aftercare is essential for a healthy, beautiful tattoo. Follow these steps to promote healing and avoid complications:

General Aftercare:

  1. First Wash:
    • Wash your tattoo with cold water and natural soap as soon as you get home. Pat it dry with a clean towel.
    • Wash it again before bed and leave it dry overnight.
  2. Ongoing Routine:
    • Each morning and evening, wash the area and apply a thin layer of natural moisturizer. Avoid medicated creams or petroleum jelly.
    • Continue this routine for two weeks or until the skin feels normal and no longer dry.
  3. What to Avoid:
    • Do not touch your tattoo unnecessarily.
    • Avoid exposure to animal hair, sweat, direct sunlight, spas, swimming pools, and natural water bodies for two weeks.
    • Never pick or peel flaking skin.
  4. Itching:
    • If the tattoo itches, do not scratch. Apply moisturizer with clean hands.
  5. Sun Protection:
    • After healing, always use sunscreen on your tattoo to protect it from UV rays.

Warning Signs:

  • If your tattoo is red, hot, or painful two days after your session, wash it as usual but apply triple-action Polysporin if needed. Consult a pharmacist if the issue persists.

If Using Second Skin:

  1. Keep it on for 5–7 days unless it becomes unsealed.
  2. Avoid exposing it to hot water, which may cause it to peel off prematurely.
  3. If it leaks or comes off early:
    • Wash the tattoo twice daily with natural soap, pat dry, and apply moisturizer.
    • Do not reapply a new second skin.
  4. When removing the second skin:
    • Do so gently in the shower using warm water.
    • After removal, follow the regular aftercare routine.
  5. Avoid strenuous activities or workouts for at least 48 hours to prevent sweat buildup under the second skin.

Allergic Reactions:

  • If redness or pimples develop around the tattoo after using the second skin, remove it immediately. Wash the area for two days without applying anything, then transition to the standard aftercare routine.

With proper care, your tattoo will heal beautifully and remain vibrant for years to come. Let us know if you have any questions or concerns—we’re here to support you every step of the way!
